October 2021 – We did it again!
We continued with our hybrid breakfast meeting format for October and again there were plenty of attendees.
The 10-minute talk was a demonstration of a hand and arm massage by Julie Kett, of Ketts Oak Therapies, using aromatherapy oils with our outgoing treasurer Kate Kelly as a willing volunteer.
A chilled-out volunteer!
The demonstration was just a small taste of what she offers, Julie explained.
She explained that she used four basic flavours of aromatherapy oils, citrus, flora, spicy, and woody, depending on whether the purpose of a massage was to energise, calm or detox.
For energising the oils are essences of Rosemary, Sage, Lemongrass and Eucalyptus.
Calming oils include Lavender, Geranium, Mandarin and Ylang Ylang, while Peppermint and Rosemary can be good for detox and Ylang Ylang or Black Pepper can be used to get rid of anxiety.
Julie explained that it was always best to use the most reputable brands of oils even if they are a little more expensive.
As she was talking she was also explaining the various massage movements she was using on Kate.
They included a figure of eight movement around the hand and arm, followed by a circular movement around the elbows. This was followed by a wringing massage, side to side and then more circular massage. The purpose, she said, was to bring the blood to the surface and help circulation.
Julie also offers Reiki and Crystal healing to clients at her Needham Market clinics.
A post-massage chilled out Kate was testament to how well it all worked!
For the future
The coffee morning will be back on Zoom for November. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone face to face again for the breakfast meeting which we’re also offering as a hybrid version. This means that members will be able to join via Zoom for those who are either unable to attend in person or are still wary of face-to-face meetings.
There will be more about this on the website and in our newsletters.
Chairman Colin Tapscott is always happy to receive any suggestions for what members want to see the Chamber doing in the future. Please send your ideas (and your wish lists) to [email protected].
