May 2022 – Plans for the future and election of the Committee

After some networking, jubilee nostalgia, and the usual excellent Mix breakfast (for those who were there in person) it was time to focus on the future.

Chamber AGM

The chairman’s report outlined what the committee has been focused on during the year, which was defining clearly what the organisation was for.

Essentially, he said, it was about groups of businesses coming together to try to help businesses to grow. For Stowmarket Chamber this meant Connecting, Championing, and Communicating.

He also reminded us that in the past year the Chamber had been involved in three exhibitions, including our own online one – Boosting Local Business.

Colin thanked all the committee for their hard work, especially Kate Kelly and Tracy Gaught. Kate and Tracy have now both retired from the Chamber and committee.

Looking Ahead

Following the presentation of reports from the secretary and treasurer, a vote was held that confirmed the three key officers in their roles for another year:

  • Chairman, Colin Tapscott
  • Secretary, Keely Taylor
  • Treasurer, Liz Rix.

Colin then announced that in 2023 there would be an in-person business exhibition. He also mentioned that the committee would like to hear from members, via a survey, if there were other things the Chamber should be doing.

In the coming year, the chamber will also launch an online group for members to join, share ideas and which will hopefully have some learning resources.

For the future

Chairman Colin Tapscott is always happy to receive any suggestions for what members want to see the Chamber doing in the future. Please send your ideas (and your wish lists) to [email protected].
