July 2021 – Lots of Praise for Members

July 2021’s virtual breakfasters were asked to do a shout-out for a fellow member as part of their 60 seconds and there were plenty of plaudits!

The 10-minute presentation was from Sharon Jenkins, of Mansion House Publishing.

From growing up in rural Gallway to editing In Touch magazines

For Sharon, there is an obvious connection between growing up in a small, rural community and editing a series of local magazines.

The essential word is “community” she said.

Sharon has been with the Mansion House Publishing company for eight years now. Previously, she spent 13 years working in marketing for the Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich.

The In Touch series is just one business of five within the Mansion House Group.  They also include Vanilla, Colourplan Print, Musical Marketing, through Grapevine, and Boswell Office Supplies.

The family-owned Ipswich business has 18 people employed and, according to Sharon, people are happy to help out wherever they are needed throughout the group.

As editor of the In Touch series, Sharon has a multitude of jobs. She needs to source good content in a timely manner. In addition, she also needs to place it correctly and edit it properly. In Touch covers 19 villages in total.

“The aim is to produce a magazine that is exclusive to its area, and that was what first attracted me to the job,” she said.

She said the amount of editorial she had received in the last 12 months had increased by 50%. She partly believes it was because they carried on delivering the magazines throughout the various Covid lockdowns.

For the future

While there is, at last, a cautious timetable for easing lockdown, monthly meetings (for the time being) will continue to be via Zoom. Once you have booked you will receive an email in advance of the session giving you the log-in details and passwords.

Chairman Colin Tapscott is always happy to receive any suggestions for what members want to see the Chamber doing in the future. Please send your ideas (and your wish lists) to [email protected].
