January 2025 – Canva Tips and Tricks: Insights at the Breakfast Networking

The usual excellent breakfast and lively conversation with 25 attendees (including 3 online) which was great to see for an early start on a grey January morning.

Guest speaker, Kim Morrison

It was lovely to see Kim in person rather than online from her home in Portugal.

During her talk she outlined some of the useful features of Canva for creating, using and grouping images and using Canva’s presentation tools.

As owner of Be Your Own Graphic Designer, as well as a marking expert, Kim uses and recommends Canva a lot, so much so that she was invited to be one of their first brand ambassadors back in 2016.

She has a YouTube channel showing lots of useful tips for using Canva and in her presentation she outlined some of the basics, demonstrating what Canva can do.

They included how to change a template, how to upload to Canva and how to change backgrounds. She also showed how in presenter view it was possible to see two screens so you can see changes alongside your notes as you are working.

You can actually draw directly onto the page and group or arrange your drawing as you want it to look.

Finally, Kim said, Canva is a very ethical service and after receiving negative feedback on its proposed price increase, it decided not to go ahead with this and kept prices as they were.
