August 2020 virtual breakfasts continue

A total of 23 members and guests were at the August 2020 Zoom meeting – is that a record? Particularly for the Summer months!

If you want to find out more about some of our members do check out the Member Spotlight page. Bear in mind that we do one a month so there’s an ongoing list of people to add!

In our ten-minute slot this month Tracey Gaught of Tailor and Made Travel told us about her lifetime passion – travel.

Is there anywhere this intrepid traveller has never been?

Tracey GaughtGrowing up in the traditional seaside holiday resort of Blackpool it was perhaps no great surprise that Tracey should have developed a passion for travel.

Her favourite places are in S. E. Asia, particularly Laos.

She went straight into the holiday business after she left school, starting with Hogg Robinson in 1980 in the days when there were no computers, no IT and only dial-up phones. After her daughter was born in 1985, she joined the Villa Owners’ Club, which had 40 staff.

By then, the foreign travel bug had well and truly bitten and she became a tour leader in Japan and China, specialising in putting together special interest tours.

Before starting Tailor and Made Travel, Tracey spent time as a volunteer in Fiji, as a leader for community projects, helping to rebuild 11 communities devastated by a cyclone in 2016. She is proud of her success in creating a garden growing fruit and veg at a school.

As for places she has yet to visit – there’s only one continent left – Antarctica

Her daughter is now a successful jewellery designer working in Mayfair when she isn’t travelling herself – it seems the bug is catching!

While her business has clearly been impacted this year by Covid-19, Tracey remains optimistic and is actively helping clients find their ideal holiday destination for 2021.
