July 2018 breakfast

An excellent breakfast, the “C” word and Annya sets us up for the day

Guests Richard Charles, of Haven Power, providers of electricity to businesses, and Rosy Boulton, of Crystal Rose, offering skin care treatments in Needham Market, were among the 19 attendees at July 2018’s breakfast at Finborough Hall.

Pain relief was clearly a theme of this month’s presentations, most obviously from Annya Stoddart’s acupuncture at her Pain Relief Clinic, but also from Mike Drain’s two business. Firstly Superb Travel Suffolk taking the pain out of driving to the airport, and secondly as the Suffolk Foot Man, relieving the agonies of painful foot conditions.

Peter Stanway, of Project HR, was this month relieving pain for a GP practice that was trying to dismiss an unsatisfactory employee. Business Plumber Kate Kelly spends her life helping businesses remove the pain of blockages in their processes and Shelli Moyes, of MPM Computer Consultancy, deals with the painful consequences of phishing scams.

There were plenty of other pain-relieving businesses attending, from struggles with leadership issues to the headache of coming up with interesting ideas for blogs, websites and e-newsletters.

Finally, someone had to mention the “C” word. After all, the year is half over even if we are in the middle of a heatwave. This time it was our lovely secretary, Keely Taylor of Taylor Made Trees reminding us that anyone who wants to give a properly-researched family tree as a Christmas gift needs to let her know soon!

A simple exercise to focus the mind

July 2018 Breakfast - Mindful breathingWho would have thought that a simple exercise in breathing out through alternate nostrils could help us to bring our minds into focus? You just need to breathe in three times on the right, three on the left then three times breathing out through both nostrils. The benefits can last for a whole day!

Annya Stoddart’s second business is called Wisdom Mind. Her website is full of videos on mindfulness and its benefits. It also has some simple exercises like the one she took us all through at breakfast. It’s one that can help us to declutter our brains to the benefit of our mental health and wellbeing. It can also help us be more effective in our business.
