February 2018 breakfast:
Some interesting visitors, lively conversation and insurance to ponder
There were 20 breakfasters at The Mix for our February 2018 breakfast. Four were visitors with some interesting propositions:
Bird’s i Images’ Dave Palmer uses drones to offer aerial views but he also has some mini-drones that can be used indoors for racing games.
Colin Tapscott’s new company, Everyday Leader, uses his background in education to help business leaders in small and large companies improve their communication skills and improve their complaints handling.
John Reynard, the Spirited Entrepreneur, also helps business leaders and in a series of workshops covers such things as Intuition, the Law of Attraction, and overcoming the ego.
Jim Marschalek, of Groundwork Suffolk, helps businesses via Bee Anglia, to access grants and improve their energy efficiency.
Tracey Strand, of Tailor & Made Travel, was back for a second helping of breakfast and has now become a Chamber member – we must be doing something right!
Have you thought about Cyber Insurance?
Our presentation for February 2018 was from Jake Mower, of Ryan Insurance. Ryan’s has arranged the insurance for our business exhibition, MSBE, at The Mix on March 21.
We have all heard a lot about Cyber Crime, internet scams, email scams and hacking but have you thought what that could cost your business?
There’s IT support if your website has been hacked and needs to be cleaned up. Or if your access has been blocked by a demand for a ransom.
What happens if you or someone in your office opens an email cleverly masquerading as being from someone within the company and asking you to pay an amount to a fake bank account?
Then there are the consequences of a breach of security under the new GDPR regulations for which there are stiff financial penalties.
Not only does it mean lost hours of work while things are repaired, or a tedious process for retrieving the money, if it can be, but it might also do damage to the company’s reputation.
This new area of insurance protects businesses from that risk for a modest annual premium. If you are a Chamber member you can benefit from a 5% discount. You can call Ryan’s on 01473 343406 if you’d like to learn more.
What’s not to like, as they say?
